The OPNL New Year's Collaboration Collection features 4 all new duos! I had the opportunity to review the set that includes OPNL and LitLaq - two fantastic companies - and I couldn't be happier about it!

Octopus Party Milk and Honey is a yellow toned neutral with blue interference shimmer. I wore three coats with topcoat in the images below. It's an unusual color and finish for sure - I have nothing like it in my collection and don't recall seeing anything similar before. Formula was fluid and not streaky or draggy at all.





Literary Lacquers Sky of the Sky is a beautifully done holo with gold flakie shimmers throughout. This is also reminiscent of one of Pantone's colors of the year for 2016, but better. :) I wore two coats and topcoat for photos. Formula is consistently excellent as all other LitLaqs.

The literary inspiration comes from a poem by E.E. Cummings called I Carry Your Heart With Me. I had not read it before, but it is definitely emotionally evocative and worth a read. I'm bookmarking it to read again and again, I just love that poem!





I did up some nail art all 'fancy' like with snowflakes - these are from the Vivid Lacquer plate number VL006, a must have for any stamping enthusiast. I stamped with MDU polishes over the duo.

Octopus Party: Crown of Queen Elizabeth

Crown of Queen Elizabeth is a pure silver holographic lacquer. A royal treat for your nails, this color exudes the timeless charm of platinum.

The formula was very nice and I think sheer enough that it would also work well as a holo topper. I haven't tried it myself yet, but I may with the next Creme A La Mode box! The polish is opaque in 3 coats as shown in the photos.

The Crème à la Mode box is a seasonal collection of cream finish polishes made by four different brands.
The first box was launched in August, and the second box is coming up soon!
The Winter box is packed with beautifully done shades that are unusual for the season but definitely suit it. All four polishes are opaque in two coats and have exceptional formulas and shine. I've done some nail art at the end of the review - hope you enjoy!

Each polish has a great formula, in fact all my photos show only one coat with topcoat. (I tend to use thick coats, so you may need two for thinner style polishing.)

Bonus! They all stamp fairly well, although I'd suggest using them over a light color such as Tauping Mechanism, a pastel, or white so that they show their own colors off the best.
I went with a French theme to follow along with the box's language!

Octopus Party Nail Lacquer: Teenage Bedroom

Teenage Bedroom is a sun kissed violet based polish with a vibrant linear holographic rainbow! Dave from Ocotopus Party Nail Lacquer told me about the inspiration for the polish, and I must say it is quite well thought out and well, I got a bit nostalgic while reading his description.

I wanted to create a collection that was loud and vibrant, so things like tropical paradises, heat waves, guns, Barbie dolls, and gemstones all made it into the mix. Teenage bedroom is sort of an ode to youth. Teenagers spend a lot of formative hours in their rooms dreaming of the future, mulling over the past, obsessing over music, crushes, movies, food, friends, and nail polish. Their room acts sort of as both a catalyst and a sanctuary at that time in life. The color is a warmer toned purple to lend itself both to the summer season and the safety and urgency of such a sacred place in our lives.

I wore two coats and topcoat for the photos below. The formula was perfectly smooth and easy to apply, very little cleanup needed.





Afterward, I did some Octopus inspired stamping over it with XL plate U and MDU #14 stamping polish. I used a super squishy marshmallow stamper from Chelle Lee.

Octopus Party Nail Lacquer: Le Bon Marché

Le Bon Marché means "the good market", or "the good deal" in French and is a well-known department store in Paris, France. The building is quite beautiful outside as well as inside.

The polish that Dave, of Octopus Party Nail Lacquer, created is creamy and delicious looking. It is described as a pastel violet cream with purple and gold flakies. I would say that the shade has a touch of grey to it because it is not the typical purple you see in a pastel color range.

I am not sure where he drew his inspiration so I'm going to guess that it's name has something to do with the store in France. Going with that assumption, the polish seems to represent the subtly colored walls inside the store and the flakies represent the soft lights on them.

Whether the store was his inspiration or not, I love the polish. It's unique in my stash and I've enjoyed wearing it!
I used two coats with topcoat but may have been able to use just one coat had I been more careful applying it - the polish is quite opaque!





This polish is part of a duo that is currently out of stock but will be relaunched on at the Octopus Party Nail Lacquer Etsy shop on Saturday March 14 at noon central time. This color will not be restocked on 3/14, but has changed and will be stocked at a later date.

Octopus Party Nail Lacquer Holo Daze duo with Literary Lacquers

Octopus Party Nail Lacquer (OPNL) is doing a huge collection of duos this winter. The Holo Daze Collection consists of eight duos with eight different brands, and I was allowed the opportunity to review the duo with Literary Lacquers brand.the duo is inspired by The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen. It's stunnin' ya'll. Let's have a look!



Literary Lacquers (LitLacq) The Whole World and a Pair of New Skates is an absolutely stunning glitter filled linear holographic aqua that seems to shift in different lighting and angles. I'm pretty blown away by this polish - it's super sparkly and opaque in two coats. I had very little to no clean up since it was easy to control during application.





Octopus Party Nail Lacquer (OPNL)Mirror of Understanding is an icy light blue linear holo that's jam packed with gold shimmer and tiny indigo glitter. It's pretty spectacular and was also easy to control during application and opaque in two coats.





Guys, you need these. Especially if you love blue.
There will be 50 sets of this particular duo available for $25+sh on launch day with the potential for being restocked quickly if there's a fast sell out. (some of the duos with other brands won't be restocked)
