Valentine's Duo from Baby Girl and Kathleen & Co.

I have a Valentine's Duo to share with you. Mia of Kathleen & Co. teamed up with NeNe of Baby Girl Lacquer to bring you a fun duo! It will be available January 20 at 10am central at Kathleen & Co.'s website. And there's a story behind this duo! (Direct quotes from Mia are italicized)

When I was first starting out as a maker I reached out to Nene thinking she was a swatcher and even though I was mistaken she struck up a conversation with me and we learned we had so much in common. She was one of the first makers to befriend me and has always been super supportive and encouraging. I’m excited to be collaborating with her again after all these years!

Baby Girl Lacquer brings a beautiful red cream polish and cuticle balm, both scented with tart & black cherry fragrances.
Nene says that your nails will smell so good, you'll want to bite them! Don't bite them, though! I can't be held responsible for personal injuries!

I wore three coats of Cherry Kisses with topcoat. I noticed a subtle tomato red sheen shifting across my nails as I moved them and thought that was unique looking. When I asked Mia if that was intended, I found that the polish is being reformulated to be straight up red as seen in the base shade.

The cuticle balm smells like cherry candies and my favorite black cherry Kool-Aid. (I still drink it!) The balm melts on contact which makes it so easy to apply. It added a nice sheen to my nails and my skin and feels so soft.

Kathleen & Co's part of the duo is a fun Valentine's topper that is loaded with pink aurora shimmer in a clear base with added holo flecks. She's also including a little pot of glitter hearts in pink, white and magenta as shown in the kit photo above.

I did a little nail art with the topper and a few of the white hearts, such a cute combo!

The topper goes great with the red cream and looks pretty over pastel creams too. Check out the topper over Nina Ultra Pro's In a Tiff.

Kathleen & Co: Winter Creams

Kathleen & Co Winter creams are here! The collection of four are a shoutout to the winter creams from 2020, with two shades that came back and two shades that are similar but different/new. The launch is January 20, 2023 at 10am central time at Kathleen & Co's website.

All creams are shown in two coats with topcoat. They're amazingly buttery and basically apply themselves. Mary has done an amazing job with the formulas for these! The matte topcoated photos just reiterate how smoothly they each applied.

Deepest Blue is a nearly navy blue cream. I love where this shade sits in its color range. Most navy blue shades are too dark and end up looking black. This one is definitely blue and it's dark enough to call it navy I think, pure perfection!

Eggplant is a beautiful purple shade. Like navy blues, darker purples can also look black on the nail. This one, like deepest blue, is just dark enough to be a dark purple without looking black and just look at it matted!

Fir is that ever so slightly blue-leaning forest green. Absolutely beautiful! I can just picture a forest full of fir trees after dawn, when the fog is just settling near the ground all around them and the crisp fragrance of their leaves wafting in the air. This isn't just a polish, it's an adventure ya'll!

Winterberry is a blue-leaning darkish red shade, like the crushed velvet in your favorite jewelry box. So lush and utterly perfect for any ocassion whether it be a little black dress or a casual road trip!

Snow Globe as a Topper!

You may recall my earlier review of Kathleen & Co.'s December 2nd Polish Pick Up. I decided to try it out as a topper over various cream colors and I am loving it this way too! From index to pinky over Kathleen & Co. creams: green (Fir), purple (Eggplant), blue (Deepest Blue), red (Winterberry). The plastic nail ring is two coats over the "natural" shade of plastic.

Kathleen & Co. File and Pusher

Debuting this Black Friday on the Kathleen & Co. webshop are their Crystal etched nail file and cuticle pusher. These are both chemically etched, so the surface will not wear away, they both come with a vinyl case, and best of all, they can be very easily sanitized!

I find that the file's grit is just right for both reducing the length of natural nails and for shaping them. If you look back at my review for the upcoming Polish Pickup, you can compare to the photo below to see the amount of length I took off with this file. It was easy to do and didn't take long. Plus the grit is fine enough that I don't have to bother with filing in one direction. The file will seal the nail nicely so there's no need to go over the free edge with a buffing file afterward. And the handle is purple, who doesn't love purple?

I also did my cuticle clean up with the new etched cuticle pusher from Kathleen & Co. It makes super quick work of it and no cuticle remover liquid is needed. I love the sharp point to get really close to the proximal nail fold to remove the tiny bits that like to cling there. If you're unfamilar with the difference between the proximal nail fold and cuticle, have a quick review of my "What is cuticle?" article, it may not be what you think! The tool is super fast and accurate with no mess or fuss. I love the ease of use and really, you can use it anywhere, like while waiting in the car for Starbucks drive through! If you haven't tried a tool like this, it is worth getting. Just be sure to be gentle to keep your proximal nail folds happy!

KBShimmer Awfully Frond of You
When temperatures at home are frigid, and the falling snow is no longer enchanting, it’s the perfect time to escape to a warm place. Palm fronds and soft sand set the stage for a relaxing day. Lapping waves reflect jewel-toned hues as they usher in a warm night breeze under the setting sun. Kick off your shoes for an evening stroll under the stars or put on the perfect pair for a night of dancing in the tropics. Either way, not needing to wear snow boots makes it a perfect trip!

Awfully Frond Of You nail polish is a nod to the deep tones the setting sun creates against a tropical background. Rich purple in color, this shade showcases a range of hues from a bold fuchsia to a royal purple, to almost indigo. A scattering of micro holo flakes adds a twinkle to your manicure. This tropic-inspired shade is shown in two coats with KBShimmer Clearly on Top topcoat.

KBShimmer Blueberry Muffin Hand & Body Scrub
No Cap
Waking up in the morning can be hard to do. We stretch, yawn, shake awake the sleepy feeling and head to the shower hoping that the warm water will wash away the rest of the tiredness and prepare us for the day ahead. Often in our busy lives, we rush out the door, grabbing nothing but a cup of coffee to tide us over until lunch. As for Christy of KBShimmer, she prefers to start her day with a bit of breakfast like a warm muffin to fill her up while she takes on the morning tasks.

Blueberry Muffin Hand & Body Scrub can help you face the morning to-do list, even if you’re not reaching for an actual muffin. The scent of juicy blueberries is accented by sweet notes of warm cake. Sugary, with a hint of vanilla, this scrub smells just like warm muffins fresh from the oven. Swirled in shades of cream and blue, this blueberry muffin inspired scrub will have you feeling like you had a good breakfast, no matter the time of day.
