Y2K Get ready to dust off your butterfly clips and find your favorite velour tracksuit, because we are heading back to the turn of the millennium! This month, Polish Pickup is celebrating the Y2K Comeback, and the nostalgia in this collection is hitting all the right notes.

If you aren't familiar with how Polish Pickup (PPU) works, it is the ultimate monthly "one-stop shop" for indie lovers. The platform brings together hundreds of limited-edition products from different makers all in one place. You can shop from dozens of different brands but only pay one shipping fee, which makes it a great way to try new makers alongside your favorites.

The shop opens for pre-order on January 2nd. While there will be hundreds of polishes, scrubs, and hand-care items available on the site, I have a few beautiful highlights to share with you today from KBShimmer and LynB Designs.

Blockbuster - Blockbuster is a nod to the movie stores of yesteryear. This ultramarine blue nail polish is loaded with shimmer, for a shade worthy of a starring role in your collection. A yellow-to-gold shifting shimmer shines in the light, while changes in angle reveal hints of lime. Bolder lighting brings out stronger orange-gold tones and highlights the micro holographic sparkle. Two coats provide coverage for most.




Love Spell - Love Spell hand and body scrub is a beloved scent for many, beginning with fresh citrus notes of orange and clementine blended with hints of peach. Floral notes of cherry blossom and white jasmine mix with base notes of musk and apple for an alluring fragrance you’re sure to love. 400 Cap




Stay Put - Achieve a long-lasting manicure with KBShimmer Stay Put Hydrating Base Coat. This base coat not only helps your polish stay in place but also hydrates your nails. Formulated to protect against yellowing and staining, the Stay Put Hydrating Base Coat features lush ingredients like prickly pear extract and seaweed. Apply it before your polish to create a protective layer that locks in moisture. Vitamin E helps prevent oxidation and keeps your nails hydrated from within.
If you're looking for a holy grail basecoat, try this one! It is definitely mine because it adheres polish like iron. It's also very affordable.

All of my swatches are shown in two thick coats with topcoat and had no formula issues unless otherwise stated. All photography uses a neutral color temperature bulb with white bounce card. My nails are natural with no enhancements and no blurring/cream base, I have a fairly prominent VNL.

Polish Pickup November 2023: Fairy Tales & Folklore

Available at Polish Pickup November 3-6 are some goodies from a variety of brands. I have items from Hearts & Promises, KBShimmer, and LynB Designs to share with you! All the polishes were easy to apply, I had no issues with formulas. Let's take a look at them!




Hearts & Promises Once Upon A Starry Night
A blackened blue base with sapphire shimmer and holo pigment.




LynB Designs Foolish Flame - no cap
A burnt orange base with pink to red to orange shifting shimmer. Inspired by the origin of the Jack o’ Lantern and Will o’ the Wisp. Shown in two coats with topcoat.




KBShimmer Bound To Happen – No Cap
A note about the inspiration from KBShimmer: My eReader is my faithful companion, keeping me entertained with stories that bring worlds of fantasy and magic to life. I love a meet-cute with a hint of magic. Faraway lands filled with hints of mystery, and heroines that think they are human (but we all know they are not) always draw me in. Tales of elves and fairies, vampires and wolves, witches and wizards are bound to keep me up late at night, needing to finish just one more chapter.

Bound To Happen is a magnetic nail polish with magical color shifts. Without the magnet, a deep navy base accents shades of violet, pink, and golden green. When hit with a magnet, the deep blue base shifts between an indigo-leaning navy, royal blue, and even teal, with the magnetic pull showing off a bold fuchsia pink and magical color shifts in rose, gold, and green. A hint of holographic sparkle completes this mythical nail polish. Shown in two coats.




KBShimmer is re-releasing the peppermint scrub.(photos and description from 2021)
Pure peppermint essential oil scents a creamy sugar base swirled with streaks of pink for a minty winter treat for your skin. Peppermint essential oil has a tingly, cooling effect to refresh and pamper tired legs and feet. Patch testing is recommended prior to use and we don’t recommend using peppermint scrub on any sensitive bits; the cooling effect can be intense. The jar has a heat-sealed lid for no leaks in transit. This naturally scented scrub would make a perfect holiday gift!

PPU: KBShimmer Grand Finale & Sweet Sangria Scrub

Polish Pickup's theme for April is the periodic table of elements. I have two KBShimmer items to show you today, these are launching on April 1-4 for pre-order.



KBShimmer Grand Finale
No Cap
A nod to Christy's favorite purple fireworks. A red-leaning violet base is filled with sparkling holo glow flakes. A near metallic-like shimmer shines bright in hues of gold, copper, and bronze for a unique shade that mimics glittering pyrotechnics. This shimmery shade is shown in 2 coats with topcoat. Formula was good, no issues to report.



KBShimmer Sweet Sangria Scrub
A sweet and fruity blend as refreshing as a glass of sangria loaded with seasonal produce. Sweet grape notes are brightened by a hint of tart berry. Deep wine notes amplify hints of orange, black plum, and pineapple for a combination that promotes visions of relaxing days laughing with family and friends. I love the fruity sweet combo, definitely a burst of summer in a jar!

KBShimmer for March Polish Pickup

Polish Pickup's theme for March is Maker's Choice. I have two KBShimmer items to show you today, these are launching on March 4-7 for pre-order.



Beach You To It is a blue reflective shade filled with color shifting shimmer. In low light turquoise and green shimmer are shown while direct light shows a sky-blue base accented by gold and lime shimmer. The silver reflective pigment catches the light for an amazing sparkle. Shown in 2 coats with top coat, photos are with flash and without.



KBShimmer Vanilla Bean Scrub is a cream colored scrub scented with a rich vanilla bean fragrance. Heavy notes of vanilla are smoothed out by sweet cream. Bottom notes of dark caramel lift the vanilla for a rich blend that will invite you to sniff again. This is a complex vanilla!
