Polish Pickup August 2025: Time Travel

Get ready to be dazzled — Polish Pickup is back August first, and it’s bringing the magic! This month, KBShimmer is delivering serious end-of-summer vibes with a polish that’s dark, dreamy, and full of fiery shimmer, plus a sugar scrub that smells like your favorite throwback memories bottled up in a spa day. Then there's LynB Designs, taking us on a wild ride through time and space with Temporal Chaos — a glowing, flakie-filled polish inspired by the legendary 14th Doctor. While these three beauties are the stars of my review, there are many more goodies available this month at Polish Pickup. Let’s time travel through the pretties!!




KBShimmer Excellent Nail Polish - We’ve all dreamed of time travel at some point - going back in time to witness major historical events. But not all of us had the threat of failing history class, and the future of a utopian society depending on it! Add in one phone booth, two dim-witted high school students, and a guide from the future, and you get what can only be described as an excellent adventure.

Excellent is a deepened grape jelly nail polish loaded with black flakes accented by iridescent flakes that shift into shades of pink, fuchsia, and orange. Contrasting blue to aqua to indigo flakes add a fun pop of color.




KBShimmer Breezy Juniper Scrub - Crisp and clean, fresh and herbal, the scent will take you back in time to the days when you only had to worry about catching the school bus or meeting your friends at the mall, not catching your morning Zoom meeting. Prepare to have your senses invigorated with this refreshing sugar scrub featuring swirls of blue and green against a creamy beige base.




LynB Designs Temporal Chaos - a polish worthy of a Time Lord. Inspired by the iconic 14th regeneration of The Doctor, this electrifying indigo jelly base pulses with purple-to-pink flakies, magenta-to-green shifting UCC flakies, and an aqua glow that comes alive in the dark. It’s bold, otherworldly, and a little bit chaotic — just the way we like our regenerations. Whether you're a Whovian or just a fan of glowing, galactic nails, this shade is here to take your mani on a space-time adventure.




All of my swatches are shown in two thick coats with topcoat and had no formula issues unless otherwise stated. All photography uses a neutral color temperature bulb and white background with white bounce card. My nails are natural with no enhancements and no blurring/cream base, I have a fairly prominent VNL.

Polish Pickup November 2023: Fairy Tales & Folklore

Available at Polish Pickup November 3-6 are some goodies from a variety of brands. I have items from Hearts & Promises, KBShimmer, and LynB Designs to share with you! All the polishes were easy to apply, I had no issues with formulas. Let's take a look at them!




Hearts & Promises Once Upon A Starry Night
A blackened blue base with sapphire shimmer and holo pigment.




LynB Designs Foolish Flame - no cap
A burnt orange base with pink to red to orange shifting shimmer. Inspired by the origin of the Jack o’ Lantern and Will o’ the Wisp. Shown in two coats with topcoat.




KBShimmer Bound To Happen – No Cap
A note about the inspiration from KBShimmer: My eReader is my faithful companion, keeping me entertained with stories that bring worlds of fantasy and magic to life. I love a meet-cute with a hint of magic. Faraway lands filled with hints of mystery, and heroines that think they are human (but we all know they are not) always draw me in. Tales of elves and fairies, vampires and wolves, witches and wizards are bound to keep me up late at night, needing to finish just one more chapter.

Bound To Happen is a magnetic nail polish with magical color shifts. Without the magnet, a deep navy base accents shades of violet, pink, and golden green. When hit with a magnet, the deep blue base shifts between an indigo-leaning navy, royal blue, and even teal, with the magnetic pull showing off a bold fuchsia pink and magical color shifts in rose, gold, and green. A hint of holographic sparkle completes this mythical nail polish. Shown in two coats.




KBShimmer is re-releasing the peppermint scrub.(photos and description from 2021)
Pure peppermint essential oil scents a creamy sugar base swirled with streaks of pink for a minty winter treat for your skin. Peppermint essential oil has a tingly, cooling effect to refresh and pamper tired legs and feet. Patch testing is recommended prior to use and we don’t recommend using peppermint scrub on any sensitive bits; the cooling effect can be intense. The jar has a heat-sealed lid for no leaks in transit. This naturally scented scrub would make a perfect holiday gift!

Polish Pickup: Marine Magic (August 2022)

Of all the things in an aquarium to watch, jellyfish are top of the list. Nearly neon when lit up in their tank, the graceful elegance of their translucent bodies propelling through the water are captivating. The red glow of the light illuminates, giving these sea creatures an otherworldly appearance, perfect for inspiring the August shade, Jelly Much?

Jelly Much? is a pink-leaning cherry shade loaded with color-shifting shimmer. Dancing between a bright magenta and cool red, this buildable base sets off a golden shimmer that reads almost orange. In some light, the gold can take on a more lime tone, while lower lighting brings out more pink hues. This boldly colored polish is perfect in 2 coats, but a third will deepen the color for a truer red shade.




Salt Water and Mermaids Sugar Scrub

Remember in childhood when some of us were convinced that mermaids were real? Human-like but half fish, living their best lives under the sea with crab friends looking for a prince...

Salt Water & Mermaids hand and body scrub is a sweet scent that captures the essence of mermaids with a fresh, watery green fragrance. Delicate notes of ocean mist and sea grass combine with agave nectar and coconut milk for a fruit-like fragrance I can’t quite describe. It is deliciously clean and fruity! A sea blue shade, this scrub is accented by a touch of biodegradable glitter on top for a scrub that will make you want a seashell outfit and a day at the beach.




Restoration Drops

Over time, nail polish can get thick and stringy. This is due to the evaporation of Butyl Acetate and Ethyl Acetate, two of the main ingredients in all nail polishes that help the polish to dry on your nails. To restore thick polish, use the KBShimmer polish thinner, Restoration Drops. For slightly thickened polish, start with 2-3 drops, shake, then check the consistency. Repeat until you are happy with the result. For dried out or severely thickened polish, we suggest that you fill the bottle with thinner to the fill line, let it sit overnight, and then shake in the morning. You may need to use a toothpick or paperclip to stir, allowing the thinner to reach the bottom of the bottle. Cleaning the necks of the polish bottles after use to allow a good seal will help prevent future evaporation.

To prevent evaporation of the thinner, store with the regular top. Please note: Glitter polishes are generally thicker than cream polishes. The use of too much thinner can reduce the suspension properties of glitter polishes. Always start with 2-3 drops and only use what is needed to restore polish to its original consistency. Restoration Drops can be used with any regular nail polish, top or base coat.

PPU: KBShimmer Grand Finale & Sweet Sangria Scrub

Polish Pickup's theme for April is the periodic table of elements. I have two KBShimmer items to show you today, these are launching on April 1-4 for pre-order.



KBShimmer Grand Finale
No Cap
A nod to Christy's favorite purple fireworks. A red-leaning violet base is filled with sparkling holo glow flakes. A near metallic-like shimmer shines bright in hues of gold, copper, and bronze for a unique shade that mimics glittering pyrotechnics. This shimmery shade is shown in 2 coats with topcoat. Formula was good, no issues to report.



KBShimmer Sweet Sangria Scrub
A sweet and fruity blend as refreshing as a glass of sangria loaded with seasonal produce. Sweet grape notes are brightened by a hint of tart berry. Deep wine notes amplify hints of orange, black plum, and pineapple for a combination that promotes visions of relaxing days laughing with family and friends. I love the fruity sweet combo, definitely a burst of summer in a jar!

Polish Pickup: January 2022

Polish Pickup's theme for January is Spices and Condiments. I've got a few items from KBShimmer to show you, these are launching on Jan 7-10 for pre-order.




Say It Ain’t Cilantro is a green polish loaded with reflective pigments. In low lighting, a cilantro leaf green hue catches the light for a muted twinkle. In bright light or with flash, the reflective pigment comes alive. Shown in 2 coats with topcoat. Without a top coat, this shade is textured. Removal is as easy as removing a cream or shimmer polish.



KBShimmer Restoration Drop Thinner
Restore your thick, stringy, goopy or even completely dried out polishes with this thinner. Add a few drops at a time and shake then test, until you have the consistency you desire. If the polish is fully hard, add about 20 drops and let sit overnight, shake the next day, test and repeat until it is thin enough. Glitter polishes are generally thicker and too much thinner can reduce the suspension properties.
The bottle comes with an extra dropper style cap for easy application. To prevent evaporation of the thinner, store with the flat top.

I used KBShimmer thinner for a long while before I became a blogger for her brand. It works well and does not contain any extra/unnecessary ingredients. In the photos, I included my current bottle and an empty bottle that I kept. In total, the PR sample is my fourth bottle and I'm so glad she chose the thinner for PR this round as I was almost out!
