My First Fluid Nail Art!

Guys!!! I am so excited to show you my very first fluid nail art!

xoxoJen's swatch of Fluid Nail Art with KBShimmer Summer Neons

I'm wearing this in a full mani, and below is my other hand (a rare site!). I didn't plan out the dominant colors for each hand, it just happened this way!

xoxoJen's swatch of Fluid Nail Art with KBShimmer Summer Neons

I used three of the KBShimmer Seas The Day pastel neon creams: Pink or Swim, Lime All Right, Harbor A Crush, and Eclipse (black cream).

They're so pretty, I had to!

Those tiny cells tho!
The cells are made by using a DIY spotted polish (shoutout to OPI for the original!).
I added silicone based hair serum (1/4 polish bottle) to clear polish (3/4 polish bottle) and shook it up well. I chose clear so that I could use it with alllllllllllll the polishes! I found the best method to get cells was to dot my mat with creams, add two dots of the clear silicone polish on top and then fold the mat once or twice. After they dried, I applied them like decals.

I learned the polish mixing method from Jenny Jones's facebook comment and the technique of folding the mat from Kyong.

To apply the decals, I sponged on some base coat so that it's kind of sticky, then smoothed the decal on over it. I use a tool like a cuticle pusher to cut the decal around the edge of the nail. It takes some patience and care, but it works. You can also melt away the edges with a brush dipped in pure acetone. The acetone can be fairly messy, just wipe the brush once over the edge, clean the brush on paper towel, redip in acetone and repeat. If you keep a clean brush it'll be less messy on the skin. After that's all done, I topcoated it to seal everything in.

I have found that my silicone polish needs to be shaken well right before use because it tends to separate. Results will vary depending on what you decide to use, I ended up using an old bottle of Wet n Wild Clear Nail Protector with Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine hair serum. I've heard of fluid art artists using tread mill/bike oil, OGX Coconut Milk hair serum, and a few others. Just make sure it has Dimethiconol in it.

Sweet Heart Polish: Neons with a kick!

Sweet Heart Polish launched a really cool set of six neons this summer and each one of them has either flakies or shimmer. They're really pretty and slightly sheer so they'd make a good polish to use for leadlighting or most of them are opaque in just three coats. The best part? Since summer is ended, these are retiring which means they're on SALE!! (through Saturday)

Stoked is the first one I swatched, and also my favorite of the bunch. It has a depth and shine like a piece of candy and is the most vibrant neon raspberry flakie.

Amped is a a coral leaning pink packed with golden shimmers. This particular neon shade not color accurate in my photos, I got as close as I could. Think of a brighter more neon pink that leans a little bit coral due to the shimmers added in. The skirt in this photo is very very close to accurate for the color of this polish.

Wipe Out is a vivacious blue flakie.

xoxoJen's swatch of Sweet Heart Polish Wipe Out
xoxoJen's swatch of Sweet Heart Polish Wipe Out

These last three shades, I wore over a white cream base so I could hide the nail line while shooting under bright lighting as these three are a bit more sheer than the first three shades.

Bitchin is a really bright lemon yellow filled with coral shimmer. The bright studio lights washed out the shimmer in my photos but trust me, it's there and it's gorgeous!

Gnarly is a flakie packed shade in between chartreuse and lime. Love it!

And finally there's Rad!, this orange packs a punch and will wow you with it's flakies!

You can grab your full sized super sale priced neons and many other retiring polishes for $4.50ea plus shipping at the Sweet Heart Polish shop, but don't delay! The sale ends Saturday!
