Contrary Polish: North Halsted

Another polish from my camera reel that dates back to the very first Polish Con!
Meeting Carrie and Gene was surreal and their limited edition polish from Chicago 2016 is beautiful.

North Halsted is a bronze linear holo with holo and antique gold microflakes. The polish was inspired by the rainbow pylons in the Chicago neighborhood Boystown.
I wore two coats with topcoat, formula was good.

Road To Polish Con: Anonymous Lacquer, Bohemian Polish, and Contrary Polish

The Road to Polish Con is back as a preview for the September 23 Polish Con event in Chicago. I am delighted to be involved again as both Director of the event and Official RTPC Blogger! If you missed the NYC Road to Polish Con, you can find photos and links here.

I and five other “official” Polish Con Bloggers and Swatchers are sharing each polish with you first! We'll adventure together down the Road to Polish Con every Thursday for a full eleven weeks.
The polishes release every Sunday morning at 9am eastern, will be available to pre-order for one week, and then the shop is refreshed with different polishes for the next launch.

Shown is two coats with topcoat. Formula was good.

Bohemian Midway Melodies - a really soft pale green with color shifting glitters and gold shimmer.

Road to Polish Con: Week 9

xoxoJen - Official Polish Con Blogger
Unable to attend Polish Con NYC 2017?
Never fear! The creators and vendors of the event got together and are creating polishes available for sale to everyone before the Con! How cool is that? The releases are done weekly on Sundays at 8am Central.

This week's launch will feature week 9 polishes from Contrary Polish and The Don Deeva.

These Streets Will Make You Feel Brand New
A very dark grey with holo flakes and a strong flash of copper. The base is truly a neutral grey but the copper flash can give the overall polish a brownish look. How cool is that? It certainly looked brown in some lights as I wore it. Two coats, with topcoat. The formula was smooth and easy to apply.

Big Lights Will Inspire You
A clear base loaded with spectraflair and a touch of holographic micro flakies. Slight texture from the micro flake. Super duper sparkly, especially in sunlight! I wore two coats and the polish was completely opaque. It feels slightly textured before topcoating, and one coat made it smooth. The formula was easy to apply, no digging the brush around the bottle or anything.

Contrary Polish: Alexandrite

While working with Contrary Polish on The Color Box polish for the grey box, Carrie mentioned to me that she had made a shifty grey polish that she wanted to send to me, as it didn't fit into her collections.

For this one though she said she was inspired by Alexandrite (green to purple color-shifting stone) and then the polish morphed a bit. What she ended up with was a green to purple duochrome with a dark grey undertone.

The color combo reminded her of my inspiration photo, so she wanted to give it to me! I'm quite humbled by her generosity. I enjoyed working with her and getting to meet her at Polish Con.

The Color Box: Grey

The Color Box fan group voted for grey this quarter and here they are!

Just in case you haven't yet been introduced to The Color Box, there's a really good description here. :)

I teamed up with Carrie from Contrary Polish to create a beautiful Rock Dove inspired polish. The base is pale grey sprinkled with purple to green shifting shimmer, linear holographic pigment and black microflakes. It's name is Fly Free and is symbolic of learning to let go of our loved ones when they move on from this earth. Carrie was brilliant at capturing my vision in the bottle, it's perfect. The formula is smooth and opaque in two coats. The surface is smooth and glassy, but I did use top coat for a quicker dry time. Because of the pale base, it is quite difficult to capture the shimmer and holo but it is apparent in person.

Jenalyn teamed up with Julie of Blue Eyed Girl to create Squall at St. George, a blue leaning grey holo packed with coppery shimmer. I wore two coats out of habit but this is a one coater. It dries semi-matte, so add your favorite topcoat for a shinier look. The formula was good, no issues to report.

Amanda and Lollipop Posse made Glittery Gray Matter together! It's a pale grey sparkle bomb of a polish! Because of the light colored base, it was difficult to capture the sparkle in my super bright lighting setup; but in person it'll knock you off your feet. The polish is sheer, so I used three coats for opacity. Formula was smooth and easy to apply.

Scarlet Dusk was the collaboration between Roselynn and Poetry Cowgirl. It's a medium toned crelly packed with red, burgundy and black micro-glitter. I found the formula to be fluid in application and opaque in two coats. On it's own, it is slightly textured so I added an extra coat of top coat for a glassy shine.

Manna and Polish M teamed up to create this medium grey based polish filled with UCC flakies, shifting shimmers and scattered holo pigment. The formula was fluid and easy to apply. I wore two coats for opacity.
