Literary Lacquers: The Needle's Bite

The Needle's Bite - A vampy mysterious metallic gunmetal linear holo with an antique gold highlight shimmer, designed with Alex and Eli Bacon-Leslie and inspired by the Newsflesh series by Mira Grant.

I wore two coats with topcoat but this polish was very near opaque in just one coat. It applied easily and so far no chipping after four days of wear. I received a compliment yesterday from the cashier at a restaurant. In their lighting, this polish looked greenish. It's definitely a morpher depending on the lighting situation.

The Needle’s Bite to raise funds for JDRF

SANTA FE, New Mexico ﹘ With Type 1 Diabetes, every day can feel like a succession of needles. Each day is filled with finger pricks, blood tests and insulin injections.

The Needle’s Bite, developed in collaboration between Literary Lacquers and Alex and Eli Bacon-Leslie, will raise funds for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

A big fan of the “Newsflesh” series by Mira Grant, Eli Bacon-Leslie chose to name the polish “The Needle’s Bite” because of his experiences living with Type 1 Diabetes and endless days of needles and blood tests, something the characters in the book could empathize with. The characters in the “Newsflesh” series live in a world of constant needle pricks and blood tests, but in their case, the tests are for zombie amplification, not blood glucose.

Each bottle of The Needle’s Bite will be sold for $13 and $5 from each bottle will be donated to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The polish will be sold from October 17, 2016 to November 16, 2016.

Literary Lacquers: The Raven trio

After the success of our collaboration polish Soul Within Me Burning, from the inaugural Color Box, Amy and I decided to make a few more polishes inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's poem, The Raven.

The design of my collaboration polish came from a franken I made many years ago which was inspired by looking through my bathroom picture window at night. It's one of those textured glass windows and through it the orangey streetlight looks like glitter against the blackened night sky. Below is my best attempt at capturing it.

The name of the polish comes from the following section of the poem. I chose it because this is the section where he gets up to look out the window.
"Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore;--
'Tis the wind and nothing more!"

And This Mystery Explore - A smoky grey crelly packed with holographic copper and orange holographic microglitter and shimmer.
I wore two coats of this polish with a topcoat. It is super sparkly and rainbow glitter filled! The polish is quite smooth to the touch before topcoat.

Sweet Lenore - A bronze metallic linear holo with just a touch of grunge. I wore two coats with topcoat. If applied in a heavy manner one coat just might do it. Amy designed this polish and it's name is derived from the eight mentions of Lenore within the poem, each of them implying that she is 'sweet'.

Different Dimension: Buttersweet Symphony

If I said I hate yellow polishes, I'd be lying.
Buttersweet Symphony from Different Dimension is the _one_ yellow polish that I fell instantly for when I saw it for the first time last year. It is packed with microglitter, holo pigment and perhaps some shimmer - definitely very sparkly!

The shade of yellow is unlike any other I've seen in polish world. In some lights, it almost seems to have a greenish hue, and in other lighting it is more a mustard shade. I think it's uniqueness is what draws me to it.

The formula was fantastic. I wore a it a week and had no chipping or staining. I never thought I'd refer to a yellow polish as "dreamy" but, it is.

Do you have a favorite yellow polish? What is it and why?
