Vivid Lacquer: Once More With Feeling (part 2)

As promised, below is part two of the Once More With Feeling collection from Vivid Lacquer. All the holographic polishes in this set have great coverage. When applied a with a thick layer they only need one coat! I also noticed that some of the holos have hidden shimmer which makes them quite unique compared to other holographic polishes!

Demon Magnet is a strong steel-like charcoal hue right in between black and grey; totally a unique shade! The holographic sparkle adds beautiful flashes of color at different angles. Not only is it beautiful alone, but it would make an awesome base color for any glitter topper as well.

Green is totally a Halloween color, and The Bitch is Back is perfect for it. It's a "glowy in the middle," forest green shade with holographic sparkle.

My jaw hit the floor with the first stroke of Five by Five and here's why:

* glowy in the middle, darker on the edges - This alone makes me swoon over any polish.
* flash of shimmer that tricks the eye into wondering what color it really is - I love a good mystery!
* holographic sparkles and hidden shimmer - What else could this polish possibly have?

So are you still wondering what color this polish really is? Blue? Purplish? Steel blue? Black?
It does finally reveal itself when the lighting is dim. Its a nice cool shade of
...well what fun would it be if I told ya? ;)

Some Monster in Her Man is a brick red holo with pink shimmer. Just when you think its leaning a little orange, the shimmer flashes pink and brightens it up. Coupled with the holo sparkles, its a stunner!

To complete the Halloween collection, Vivid Lacquer has made a sequel to last year's zombie polish with this year's I'd Never Eat Your Brains. A wine colored flakie with holographic micro glitter. This is the only polish in the set that I used three coats of to make sure the nail line had good coverage under bright lighting for photos.

If you missed part one with the other three holo polishes, be sure to take a look!

Vivid Lacquer: Once More With Feeling (part 1)

Hi friends and polish fiends! I'm excited about an upcoming collection called Once More With Feeling created by Vivid Lacquer. I'm sharing three of the eight polishes that I've swatched so far, and they're pretty fabulous!

It Must Be BUNNIES!
is such a cute name that I smiled the whole time I was swatching it, taking the photos and processing them. Its a barely greyed white, very cuddly like bunny fur! The holo is a nice scattered sparkle which is more vibrant in the sunlight. I wore two coats with topcoat over a white cream.

The next polish is named with a phrase that Anni from Vivid Lacquer uses a lot for one of her DnD Characters, Bored Now. Its a lovely smoked purple full of holo goodness. Its an almost linear scatter that sparkles and flashes all sorts of rainbowy colors. I wore two coats with topcoat for these photos.

When I first saw the name Band Candy, I giggled because my mind went two ways: A fundraiser for marching band and a pun for "man candy." Band Candy is a mouth-watering shade of brown; silky like melted chocolate glistening in a chocolate fountain. Seriously, I wanted to bite this polish! The holographic particles in this polish are also scattered and vibrant. I wore two coats with top coat for these photos.

The Once More With Feeling colleciton will be available on October 10th, view the part 2 review to see the other polishes in this set.

Color Club: The Uptown

I've enjoyed many Color Club polishes: creams, shimmers, glass fleck, holographic and flakies. The colors in the Girl About Town collection feature a few of these finishes.

Flakie polishes are one of my favorite, especially when the flakies shift colors the way this one does. Reminiscent of the infamous Clarins 230 on a larger scale, don't ya think?
Just look at those shifting flakes floating in a purple dream!

The Uptown is a beautiful iridescent flakie in a blue-leaning purple jelly base. The jelly base is really shiny and squishy on its own, but I like to layer it over an opaque base color. I've layered this flakie over a holographic royal blue polish. The index and pinky fingers feature just one coat of The Uptown while the middle and ring fingers have two coats.

In the middle of each nail the flakies look like a bright flame and as they taper toward the side of the nail, they're orange, golden and then finally green. Its pretty magical!

If you've been a polish fan for a while now, or even if you're new to it - you may have seen or heard about Nfu-Oh 51, which is a similar flakie and is discontinued. So if you missed it or ran out, The Uptown is an awesome alternative! The flakies in The Uptown seem to be more reflective and more abundant than in 51.

I took a shot where the green shift was quite strong, but it was at an odd angle so its just one nail. :)

This polish also looks great over black and a medium to dark purple to match the jelly base. You can find Color Club polish at their online store and follow the brand on facebook.
