KBShimmer: Polish Con LEs

KBShimmer's Polish Con Limited Editions are stunning! You won't want to miss them if you're going, if not, watch her page for possible overstock online!

xoxoJen's swatch collage of KBShimmer Polish Con LEs

Bean There, Done That –Our first of two limited edition polishes for Polish Con Chicago 2017 is inspired by the chrome silver sculpture named Cloud Gate in Millennium Park. More commonly known as The Bean for its bean like shape, this sculpture reflects the sky and surroundings for a unique piece of art. Our take on the bean starts with micro holographic flakes that give this polish both a linear and scattered holographic look. We then added a touch of color shift shimmer to allow a hint of blue and pink to pop at various angles.

In love with this! It has shifting shimmer from blue to purple/pink and that holo rainbow is unbelievable! The shade of silver is bright, and almost tricks the eye into seeing white at times.

The above images are shot under regular light showing a blue shimmer in the middle of the rainbow. The below photo shows off how it shifts to a purpley shade!

xoxoJen's swatch of KBShimmer Bean There, Done That

This next image shows a full blown shift to a pinky/purple hue. How amazing is that?!

The Age Of Aquarium – Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium inspired our second of two limited edition polishes for Polish Con Chicago 2017. One of the area’s top attractions, it features both salt water and fresh water attractions and is one of the largest aquariums in the country. Like the deep waters of the attractions, darkened teal shade features our holo glow flakes and a fun purple shimmer like glistening fish swimming through the sea.

I have two lamps and this polish looks completely different under each of them, so I've included photos with each source. It's a shifty stunner of a polish!

The next two photos are taken under a different light source and look completely different! The shimmer here is a bright aqua and the base appears teal.

I wore two coats of each polish for opacity and the 5-free formula is fantastic. I can't choose a favorite between these, they are both simply beautiful. I think they'd work great as an accent nail for each other or perhaps some gradient or french tip style nail art. What would you create with these?

I hope you've enjoyed the review, feel free to comment or ask questions. This is my last review post until I return from Polish Con/Vacation!

Blush: Polish Con Limited Trio and Exclusive

The Magician's Trick from Blush is a Limited Edition Trio that will be available at Polish Con in Chicago September 23 along with Blush's exclusive, It's A Breeze On The Trapeze.

xoxoJen's swatch of Blush Polish Con Collage

The Magician's Trick trio is inspired by the three acts of a magic trick.
The beginning or first act called "The Pledge" where the magician shows you something ordinary.
The middle or second act called "The Turn" where the magician takes the ordinary something and turns it into something extraordinary.
And finally, "The Prestige" the third and most difficult act, where the magician brings it back, because it isn't enough to just make something disappear, right?
These are also loosely based on the Christopher Nolan film "The Prestige".
*if there are leftovers after Polish Con they will be on the Blush website, but will not be restocked or repoured.

The Pledge:
A lavender base with a red shimmer and scattered holo.

I'm in love with all three of the trio polishes. Formula is fantastic, they're all perfect in two coats and I _still_ can't gush enough about how much I love that brush. Wide but not too wide, flat, rounded on the end for a perfect cuticle line and super soft so the polish just glides on smoothly with no bald spots or streaks. I rarely ever need to do clean up either. If you have never experienced Blush, do it.

Next is the Polish Con Exclusive which is ONLY available at the Polish Con event. It will not be sold elsewhere.

It's A Breeze On The Trapeze:
A robin's egg blue based holo with a pink shimmer.
The shade was inspired by the bright sparkling circus costumes of trapeze artists.
Shown is two coats with topcoat, again perfect formula and easy peasy application.

Press Release: Chicago Polish Con 2017

After a successful event in New York, The Polish Convention, an event celebrating and exclusively featuring indie nail polish brands, is returning to its hometown of Chicago, IL. This bi-annual event hosted by Ever After Polish and Great Lakes Lacquer takes place September 23rd at Navy Pier, Festival Hall in Chicago, IL. Navy Pier, Festival Hall is the largest venue for Polish Con to date, and will be filled with over 30 local and international vendors helping attendees celebrate their love for nail polish and nail polish accessories through shopping, live demos, tutorial tables, and meet and greets with their favorite brand owners and creators.

KBShimmer owner Christy Rose says, “We are thrilled to be returning to Polish Con for our third time. The new venue at Chicago's iconic Navy Pier is such (a) beautiful location! This new and larger locale will allow attendees a more pleasurable shopping experience and the makers more opportunity to connect with fans. KBShimmer is honored to be among so many quality Indie Polish brands and cannot wait to announce our unbelievable show specials and introduce our new mini collection celebrating one of America’s best cities, Chicago!”

Some of the over 30 brands that will be in attendance this year, along with the event organizers, are KBShimmer, Glisten & Glow, Cupcake Polish, Different Dimension, and Girly Bits. For nail artists, bloggers, and indie polish lovers in the Chicago area this is the perfect opportunity to meet the creators behind your favorite indie brands, socialize with other nail enthusiasts in the community, and learn new nail art techniques through live demos and tutorials. Shop the latest trendy nail polishes including chrome, holographic, unicorn and mermaid flakes, thermal, glitter and many more unique colors and styles from the wide array of vendors. You will also find nail and hand care items and nail art tools.

Jill Rehm-Craine, owner of Glisten & Glow says “Building interpersonal relationships with old and new indie polish fanatics is the highlight of the event for us! Polish Con showcases indie polish from all over the globe in one place for one day- what an incredible experience. Attendees getting to see in person polishes they have loved online, friendships being formed, and squeals of delight when showing off their manicures are my favorite sights and sounds of the day! We are excited to showcase new Chicago themed collections and offer fabulous deals on award winning products. It's an experience of a lifetime! Near, far wherever you are Polish Con - Chicago is the must go to Nail Polish event of the season!"

"Polish Con is one of my favorite events of the year- it's a chance to connect with our customer base, preview all of the new polishes and offer amazing show specials. There are few opportunities to meet up with a large group of people who share the same passion and Polish Con is just that. Seeing online friends meet in person for the first time, seeing young women passionate about this industry, and seeing the joy on everyone's faces throughout the day is what makes these events so rewarding for me as a vendor," Says Cupcake Polish owner Sara Casey.

Missi Barry, the owner of Different Dimension says, "I love the tutorial tables and demo tables where attendees get to learn many new nail art techniques demonstrated live and then have the ability to try the techniques themselves! You can learn how to do nail polish gradients, watermarble, free hand nail art, apply nail vinyls, make nail decals, and even learn how to stamp like a pro! Polish Con is not only a shopping event, but a learning experience. Such a unique and memorable event for all nail polish lovers."

Three time vendor and owner of Girly Bits, Pam Heil, says, "We look forward to chatting with customers and friends and reconnecting with those we have had the pleasure of meeting at previous events. We are giddy with anticipation of being surrounded by polish and polish fanatics like ourselves. I can't wait to share our newest releases and exclusive show specials. Polish Con is the perfect opportunity to try out new brands we've had our eyes on as well. This year, we are excited to share an exclusive ‘After Polish Con Coupon’ created in collaboration with other vendors for all Polish Con attendees."

Road to Polish Con: Week 10

xoxoJen - Official Polish Con Blogger
Unable to attend Polish Con NYC 2017?
Never fear! The creators and vendors of the event got together and are creating polishes available for sale to everyone before the Con! How cool is that? The releases are done weekly on Sundays at 8am Central.

This week's launch will feature week 10 polishes from Turtle Tootsie and Leesha's Lacquer.

Once In A Blue Moon
Once in a Blue Moon is a glowy blue shimmer with a dash of holo glitter. Polish Con only happens once in a gorgeous shimmery Blue Moon after all!
I wore two coats with topcoat for an opaque look.

Polish Con Blues
A black jelly holo base with silver holo micro glitter and blue shift.
I wore two easy coats with topcoat. The polish had very little texture before topcoating and did not chip after two days.

Never fear! The creators and vendors of the event got together and are creating polishes available for sale to everyone before the Con! How cool is that? The releases are done weekly on Sundays at 8am Central.

This week's launch will feature week 7 polishes from KBShimmer and Flirtin.

Big Apple Of My Eye. This polish is a squishy jelly red polish filled with holo and red micro metallic glitter. Formula was easy to apply and dries with a slight texture, I wore two coats with topcoat to smooth and just look at that squishiness!
I failed to use a base coat with this swatch and noticed an ever so slight, almost negligable pinkness upon removal of the polish, so be sure to wear a base coat if you care about that.

Pinking of You is is a soft pink with an almost opalescent type sheen to it. It contains red microglitters as well as small silver holographic glitters. This one is just in time for Valentine's Day! Formula was smooth and easy to apply, I wore two coats with topcoat.
