Happy 4th of July: Patriotic Nail Art 2018

Happy Fourth of July!!

xoxoJen's swatch of Happy 4th of July 2018: Patriotic Nail Art

Looking back over my blogging years, I noticed that the last time I did 4th of July nail art was in 2010. Has it really been 8 years?

While reading what I wrote back in 2010, my review says that was my first ever nail art! And to think I have not done nail art for any other July 4th holidays in between. Where did the time go?

xoxoJen's swatch of Happy 4th of July 2018: Patriotic Nail Art

So, in old school "Jen" fashion, here's the deets:

Brands and color names:
Revlon First Class (Blue Cream undies)
China Glaze Dorothy Who (blue glitter jelly)
Color Club Break It Up (Silver Holo w/microglitter)
KBShimmer Shoe The Blues Away (Blue holo used for stamping)
CBL A Part Of The Big Apple (Red holo used for stamping)
MDU Stamping Polish (white, I think it's number is 1 but it has rubbed off the bottle)

Coats: 2 of the Color Club and 1 each of ChG and Revlon
Top Coat: KBShimmer Clearly On Top
Wear: 1 day so far :)
For this nail art I used a variety of stamping plates, Lina Make Your Mark 03, A Fair To Remember and a small round unbranded from Aliexpress. This is the second time I've done nail art for the 4th of July Holiday. For me, this is kind of a big deal because I rarely have the time do nail art and even more rare, get to wear it.

What was your first ever nail art?

Awesome Sauce Box: Lisa Frank

The Awesome Sauce box is a collaboration between several indie Nail Polish brands who bring you a box full of awesome! The current box includes 4 polishes as well as several other fun products, all with a Lisa Frank theme.

xoxoJen's Awesome Sauce Box review: Lisa Frank

Different Dimensions~StarGazer
Holo glitterbomb with an array of shapes in bright colors and it comes with a heap of loose neon star glitters! Who doesn't like extra glitters, in star shapes!? The holo rainbow and candy colors of this polish made me grin while at work. I wore just one coat over the Anonymous Lacquer and it is almost opaque. I added a coat of gelous and a coat of top coat for a smooth glossy finish.

Anonymous Lacquer~Dream Like A Unicorn
Bold blue with a flash of purple shimmer and linear holo, and it comes with a mini "Butta Balm" for cuticle care.
This polish is so electric and vibrant, teetering right on the edge of being called purple! I don't think I have anything like it in my collection, happy to give it a home!
I wore two coats, although I could have gotten away with one.

Ever After Polish~Let's Be Frank
A bright, almost neon pink with peach tendencies super loaded with blue and purple micro flakes. If you're a pink lover, you won't want to miss this one. I wore two coats and topcoat.

The box also includes a sheet of Lisa Frank inspired water slide decals and a rainbow nail file! The file is awesome, and I haven't had a chance to try out the decals but they are super cute! The box is available now at http://awesomesauceindies.bigcartel.com/. It comes in both full and mini sizes, shown here is the full sized box.

Literary Lacquers: The Ultimate Answer

Amy of Literary Lacquers creates a special polish each year to celebrate her birthday. The numbered limited edition polish this year features tiny stars and holographic glittery goodness in a sea foamy green jelly-ish base. The literary inspiration comes from the book Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams and is named: The Ultimate Answer. If you've read the book, you'll know what the "answer" is which just happens to match Amy's birthday. Clever, eh?

Absolutely beautiful polish which is quite reminiscent of a previous Disney LE duo she did, maybe they're cousins?!
Application is smooth and easy to control as with all other LitLaqs I've worn. I used two coats with topcoat, and I tend to be a little heavy handed. If using thinner coats, three may be necessary. The stars are both silver and green and are subtle and few on purpose - those on my nails are what I got without any fancy dipping. To get more stars, check this helpful guide on glitter fishing for various techniques.

The Ultimate Answer will be available for preorder at the Etsy shop at 1pm central Friday August 28th - 1am central Monday August 31st.

Stamped Stars mani

I hope everyone who celebrates it, had a wonderful holiday this July 4th!
Jas and I went to the city's fireworks display, which was excellent, on the night of the 3rd. But even more magical than that was the view from the place Jason goes to run. We had a nearly unobstructed 360 degree view of all the fireworks in the area, and we were the only ones there. We stood outside the car for nearly an hour and it was absolutely breathtaking.

Anywho - below is what I wore for the holiday. Albeit a little late, I thought I would share anyways. I used plate JQ4, MdU 1, and a GPS stamper to stamp the stars. The gradient was made with a base of Polish My Life Stripped and Essie Style Cartel. Which matched the gradient of my shirt perfectly! (linked shirt image is from cj banks catalog, not taken by me)

If you don't celebrate, I still hope your day was fantastic! Thanks for stopping by!

Whimsical Ideas by Pam: I Believe In Fairies

Today I received a new nail polish from Whimsical Ideas by Pam. When I first saw it, I knew I had to have it!
Purple, Sparkly, Glitter, Stars and the mention of Fairies? Yes please!

I first found Pam on facebook by sheer accident, and when I spotted her polishes I knew I had to have one!
As I perused her facebook album and page, I spotted the one!
I then contacted her via email to inquire and she responded faster than I could click send! When I asked to make the purchase, I had an invoice in minutes! Pam brought a smile to my face with her friendly humor in our email conversations; and take a peek at the TAT: ordered - 3/13 late:30, arrived - 3/16, wow!

All that and a bag of chips! Just look at this bottle! Its square, which I love, and is adorned with the cutest perfect little bow!

Micro glitter, check! Holo hex glitter, check! Twinkling pink stars, check! -swoons-

Wanna see it in action? Mmmmm! Delicious Jelly!

Get yours!
