Model City Polish

Products provided for review.

Hello! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We went to a Steakhouse we had not tried before and it was delicious! Speaking of, I have some delicious Model City Polishes to show you today!

Wanna Be Your Boyfriend is a black jelly packed with small teal dot glitter and smaller hex glitter. Even though its dark it was still squishy looking and the pop of teal against the black really has a nice contrast! I wore two coats for these photos.

Not hip to teal? How about hot pink instead?! Sheena is a Punk Rocker is similar to the above polish and I think they would look pretty neat alternated on with each other every other finger... or ooo what about jelly sandwiching them together? o.o I have to try that!

And if you'd rather do a monochrome, there's this one: Hey Ho, Let's Go! which is a black jelly with silver and holo hex and square glitter of different sizes. This and the two before it make up the Ramones inspired trio.

Who doesn't like PB&J sandwiches? The deep purple jelly base is filled with two different size holographic gold glitters so you can have an instant jelly sandwich without all the fuss. Easy Peasy!

Did you finish all of your sandwich? How about Cookies and Milk for dessert!? Made with a white base, this polish has two sizes of black hex glitter and brown glitter. Extra chocolate chips please! I wore two coats alone for these photos.

Dipping Chocolate is a gorgeous shade of brown packed with holographic goodness! The best part? Zero calories! I loved this one and wore it for several days without any issues. It was breeze to apply and didn't need any special base or top coats; I just used my usual combo of Gelous and Seche Vite.

I've saved my favorite for last, Strawberry Jam. I don't like reds, but this one is exceptional! It is so squishy and juicy looking I wanted to lick it! I'm not kidding, I loved it that much! I wore two coats over Color Club Regatta Red, but I'm sure it could be built to opacity if you prefer not to wear a cream underneath.

I was curious what it'd do over blue, so I swatched my thumbnail over Milani's Dude Blue Neon and just look how different it looks! Still super squishy, but purple!

All of these polishes were easy to apply, no standing on one foot or tilting my head just right! Nope, what you see here is what came off the brush in one dip each time and painted on like normal. I love it when glitter polishes are this easy to use!
You can see all the Model City polishes at her Etsy shop or follow the brand on facebook.

Whimsical Ideas: Spring Collection 2013

Products provided for review.

You may have already seen that bottle shot on the Whimsical Ideas facebook page, but have you seen the swatches?

I love several of these polishes and like her others, these are easy to apply and give a good glitter payoff in two coats. I'm using Pam's descriptions of each polish with the photos below.

Feast your eyes! :)

Serum No.5: Part Five

These products were provided for review.
I've previously reviewed several Serum No.5 polishes and enjoyed each one of them. If you missed those entries, just use the top search bar and enter the keyword Serum.

Thanks for the Memories is a glitter topper with various shapes and sizes of black and white matte glitter and micro holographic glitter sprinkled throughout. I wore one coat of Thanks for the Memories over Illamasqua Nurture. Perfect pairing, don't you think?

For Drake

I'm in a small group of ladies who help each other out when times are tough. This is a glitter powder I received to show support to little Drake during his heart surgery.
(I chose a Lynn bottle to hold because she donated the glitter powder)

My Ten Friends: Precog and Replicant

Replicant is the second polish in the My Ten Friends Blade Runner Tribute collection.
MeiLynn@MTF describes it as a delicious green spiked with lots of gold and black glitters in various sizes; full of edgy attitude!
She's absolutely right, its a gorgeously sparkly polish that's super easy to apply. I used three coats alone to achieve the opacity you see in the below photos.

G ve Life

That is what 13 year old Taylor Storch was able to do, and you should too.

Paint it Forward! is part of the Taylor's gift campaign for organ donation awareness. Traci shared the page with me and when I read the story I knew I had to donate and spread the word. I think that the Storch's have a very important message to share so I've quoted some things from their webpage for this post. Today is not just about nails but more importantly, about giving life.

Taylor Blue is a gorgeous teal blue crelly which is opaque in just two coats. I've stamped the accent nail with Vivid Lacquer plate VL001 and Essence Stamp Me White.

Taylor’s Gift Foundation is dedicated to a life changing mission to increase organ donation to regift life, renew health and restore families. By focusing on increasing certified organ donations in the United States and worldwide, the foundation has become a positive force in changing the conversation about organ donation: Outlive Yourself.

In March 2010, thirteen-year-old Taylor Storch's life was tragically cut short by a skiing accident. With only a few minutes to consider their options, her grieving family made the life-changing decision to donate her organs. Knowing Taylor's caring spirit, they were sure this was what she would have wanted. Over the course of the next two years, Tara and Todd Storch connected with four of the five people who now live because of Taylor's gift. And through these encounters, the Storches have discovered unexpected blessings that are changing countless lives.
If you want to read more of their story, the book is available at the retailers listed on their webpage here. They also host a lot of events; some coming up in Naperville, IL and the Dallas, TX area soon.

In this video, Taylor's parents were able to meet Patricia, the recipient of Taylor's heart.

So wear your heart on your hands, show your true colors and Give Life!

Serum No. 5

Serum No. 5 restocked today so I thought I'd get these swatches up for you all!

I loved all of these - application, glitter payoff, the bottles are cute and Victoria is a gem!
She's launching some new colors today as well!

This is Happy Special Day, a multicolored glitter topper in a clear base. I've worn two coats over Essie She's Picture Perfect

My Ten Friends

I first learned of My Ten Friends from a group blog called Rare Bird Finds. This is the entry that introduced me to the My Ten Friends polish line and shop which opened in October 2012. Mei Lynn is founder/owner/creator and she is inspired from all things space. Her creations "looked like liquid galaxies trapped in a glass bottle." My Ten Friends polish is 3-free, cruelty free and made in small batches
I've stalked her shop every release since she opened; sitting on the edge of my seat to see what she will create next!

For you today, I have two of the Kiss the Cosmos polishes from the Valentine Collection.

Lunar Lovesong is my favorite color palette of the five. Yep, you heard that right, I am choosing this one over the purple one! -gasp! shock!-

All MTF polishes go on easily and most of them are opaque in two coats, sometimes three. I wore two coats of Lunar Love Song over Sinful Colors Mint Candy Apple for these swatches.
